2018 Green Harbor Village Harvestfest

OFF TO A SLOW START BUT A STRONG FINISH

Every year we hope and pray for a beautiful fall day for our annual Green Harbor Village Harvestfest!  The weather was only a deterrent for a couple of hours while others in the country were not so fortunate.  Thinking of those that were being devastated with major flooding certainly put things in perspective rather quickly as we set up for the event. With technology, we could see the rain heading our way but were grateful to see that it was going to move out as quickly as it moved in and give us the fall day we were hoping for!

It wouldn’t be Harvestfest without our talented musicians to entertain us throughout the day. Jim & Bob Sylvia with their Jimmy Buffett tunes, literally sang the sunshine in.  The Not Today band got the crowd hopp’n and The Infractions kicked it up and got everybody rock’n!   Thank you to all the musicians!

It’s not everyday you see baby goats, piglets and sheep on Marginal Street.  We were fortunate to have two 4H Clubs represented this year – the All Stars, from North Star Farms, Norwell and South Shore Evergreen 4H Club.  Not only was it fun for the kids (and adults) but, it was an opportunity to spread the word of the benefits of kids being involved in such an organization.

Harvestfest also gave the Governor Winslow 5th Grade PTO a chance to fundraise and delight the kids with their baked goods.

We had over a hundred raffle items donated this year!  When you visit these establishments, please let them know how much we truly appreciate their support.  No doubt they get asked for multiple donation requests throughout the year.  If everyone gives a little, no one has to give a lot!  Food & Restaurant Businesses— Brant Rock Hop, Brant Rock Market, Coffee Shack, Corner Café & Deli, Dairy Queen, Disch’s Route 53 Tavern, Dispatch, Dunkin Donuts (Cadet Enterprises), Fedeles, Fitzy’s, Gerard Farms, Green Harbor Lobster Pound, Green Harbor General Store, Grill 139, Haddad’s Ocean Café, Hola’s, Kkatie’s Burger Bar, Lambert’s Haymarket South, LongHorn, Major Leaque Pizzeria, MaMa Mia’s, Mandarin & Tokyo Restaurant, Manny’s Pizza, Marshfield Famous Pizza, Mia Regazza, Nautical Mile Market, Ninety Nine Restaurant, Polcari’s Bridgeway Inn, Rafferty’s, Starbucks, Station Eight, The Chefs Table, The Jetty, The Mug, The Point, The Venus II, Veronica’s Sweetcakes; Health & Beauty Businesses: Beautica Nails & Spa, Beawell Barn Yoga, Betsy Powell-Pelrine Massage Therapy, Capeway Opticians, Dragonfly Yoga Studio, Earth Tones Salon, Family Fun Cuts, Fantasy Nails, Fit Worx, Healing Hands Massage Therapy, Joleen’s Salon, Luxy Nail Bar, Natural Body Works, Old Salt Barbershop, Salon 1160, Salon Giovanni, Simply Divine Hair Salon, SportClips, The Mind, Body, Spirit Connection, The Work Out Club; Sports & Recreation Businesses:  Brewer Harbor Marina Store, Captain John’s Deep Sea Fishing & Whale Watch, Cut River Charter, Cut River Yacht Club, Danny Herb, Margie Fishing Vessel, Dean Morey, Erin Lynn Fishing Vessel, Green Harbor Bait & Tackle, Green, Green Harbor Golf Club Pro Shop, Green Harbor Tennis Club, Green Harbor Yacht Club Sailing Program, John Haviland, Emily Rose Fishing Vessel, Marshfield Tennis Club; Michael Herb, Hold Fast Fishing Vessel, Situate Golf Club, Swish Basketball Camp (Rico Cabral); Miscellaneous & Gift Businesses: a.j. We would also like to thank The Marshfield Mariner for so kindly promoting and covering our event. We truly appreciate you.

The intention of Harvestfest remains the same.  To foster greater pride and passion for our community as well as raise funds to help beautify and support it where we can.  A big “thank you” to all of you attended and spent your hard earned dollars on food and/or raffle tickets.  Without you and your support, there would be no Harvestfest nor the benefits thereof.

Mark your calendars!  Saturday, October 19th, 2019!  Harvestfest’s 25th Anniversary!  You won’t want to miss it!

“It is not more bigness that should be our goal. We must attempt, rather, to bring people back to...the warmth of community, to the worth of individual effort and responsibility...and of individuals working together as a community, to better their lives and their children's future.”     Robert F. Kennedy
